  5. on March 25, 2013 at 00:55 mandymarie20

Awesome! I’m so in! I’m planning on re-reading the book. I hope to do more, but I’m not sure what else yet.

  6. on March 25, 2013 at 01:26 VernA

I would like to reread the book and put quotes from it on my facebook wall and also share it by reading it with my sister.

  7. on March 25, 2013 at 02:02 Jillian

Wow, 6mil. congratulations! In honor of the 200th anniversary, my fiance and I will skype while watching JA movies at the same time, (this way we could talk about our favorite parts together even though of the we currently live far apart). Our top favorites are: P&P 1995, Lost in Austen, S&S 2008, Emma (2009, and Kate Beckensale 1995), Northanger Abbey 2007. .

  8. on March 25, 2013 at 02:09 Rosalie Adams

I plan to celebrate the 200 th anniversary by encouraging young adults I know to actually read one of Jane Austen’s novels . So many movies have been made to tell her stories, but the true enjoyment can only be found when her books are read and savored for the first time. It can be a magical moment for a young reader, I know it was for me. Getting someone else “hooked “on Jane Austen’s writing would be very exciting and rewarding for me.

This year on honor of the Pride and Prejudice publication anniversary, I
am rereading Jane Austen ‘s novel and
at least one of the prequels, sequels or continuations every single month.

Congratulations on that amazing 6 million
    milestone!

  10. on March 25, 2013 at 02:24 Cheyenne

    Congratulations on 6 million! Wow!

We plan on celebrating the 200th anniversary of P&P with a marathon of every version we can get our hands on… old, new, wobbly set, Bollywood. We also plan a Jane Austen/Regency style D&D style pen & paper campaign. Because we’re that kind of family. (“Roll to see if you can withstand sniggering at the cousin’s pompous speech!”)

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single geek in possession of a set of dice must be in want of a roll to play.” – my brother.

We are taking a trip to Bath in June! Can’t wait!!

      How lucky!

  12. on March 25, 2013 at 04:28 helenajustina

I am going to re-read all Jane Austen’s novels, one after another, in the summer. Since they all contain scenes from the English countryside, reading them outside in that countryside, in the sun with with the sound of birdsong, seems an apt celebration.

  13. on March 25, 2013 at 06:14 Chrissii

I can’t participate in the comp as I’m in Aussieland :) but I want to send congrats on your milestone and to celebrate p&p 200th I’m having a picnic at pemberely celebration! Regency dress required! I actually held a regency event for the last three years but will be doing something a little different for this special year. Congrats again! :)

  14. on March 25, 2013 at 07:12 smkelly8

I’m celebrating the 200th anniversary of P&P by having my Chinese students read and discuss the book. We’ll finish off with watching the film. I wish I could visit her stomping grounds . . . perhaps I can this summer.

  15. on March 25, 2013 at 07:47 Harry

Absolutely..I would be so “proud to win” yet would not hold any “prejudice” if it is otherwise.

  16. on March 25, 2013 at 07:59 mrsfrisbie

I’ve simply been re-reading it and enjoying each moment.

  17. on March 25, 2013 at 10:12 Jan Reber

Great giveaway! I’d love to win the Jane Austen Handbook. To celebrate P and P, I’ve talked my husband and some good friends into planning our first ever trip to England to visit some Austen sites (including, hopefully, Bath), and a few castles. What better way to step into her stories than to set foot in her homeland!

  18. on March 25, 2013 at 10:13 Eileen Landau

Congratulations Vic! I’ve been reading stories related to Jane’s. and will visit London this summer and see many museums.

  19. on March 25, 2013 at 10:35 Claudia Dixon

Wow, six million visitors! That’s awesome.
I will be celebrating by going to the Jane Austin Festival in Louisville, KY this summer with my sister. I will be meeting a friend of mine there that I haven’t seen in thirty years! And ,of course, I will be dressed in Regency attire!

  20. on March 25, 2013 at 10:38 MissTiffany

    What an awesome giveaway!
I’m celebrating the 200th Anniversary of my favorite book this year by finally joining the Jane Austen Society of North America (I just got my welcome package last week), reading the novel (for about the dozenth time) and introducing one of my friends to the novel and movie. A small group of us are planning a girls day where we watch the BBC version (with Colin Firth, of course) and discuss the book. I’ll make an Austenite out of my friend yet!

Also, congrats on the 6 million visitors! What an achievement! :)

  21. on March 25, 2013 at 10:49 Isabella Gladd

Congratulations on 6 million visitors! That is quite an accomplishment. I’m reading Pride & Prejudice again, taking notes, and savoring the words. I’m also watching every P & P movie, TV show I can get my hands on. I like Miss Tiffany’s idea and will check out the Jane Austen Society of North America, too.

  22. on March 25, 2013 at 11:13 SheilaM

Thank you for such a generous giveaway! I will plan on reading my annotated copy of P&P – and I like Isabella’s idea of watching every related movie and TV show available – I have a lot of them!

  23. on March 25, 2013 at 11:13 Bon

How wonderful to have 6 million visitors! While I would LOVE to visit Jane-associated sites, I’ll have to content myself with a tea party…and of course winning the those books would be good, too.

  24. on March 25, 2013 at 11:46 Michele Gavaletz

I belong to the Jane Austen Society of North America and our local chapter as well. We celebrate Jane all year long! In May we are having a discussion of Pride & Prejudice with a local author, staying at a women’s retreat in June to discuss all things Jane, attending an exhibit at a local college and celebrating Jane’s birthday in December. If you can join JASNA do so – it is a great organization for all things Jane!

  25. on March 25, 2013 at 12:04 Brenda Bigbee

Thank you for what you do to keep us informed about all things Jane! I do not always comment for lack of time (or effort) but I read every post! Six million is a great milestone along the way and I wish you six million more.

  26. on March 25, 2013 at 12:26 Kandy

Congratulations!! I will read P&P for the umpteenth time and watch the movie. Love your blog. Keep up the great work.

  27. on March 25, 2013 at 12:45 Mrs. Keith III

I have re read PRIDE AND PREJUDICE many times, and have watched different movies on this book. The past is lost on our your people who are not interested in anything before 2013.
I am lucky to have grandparents born before 1895 and they lived to 1955 and 1994. The memories of great dinners with family and friends, dressing up for different Holidays, and participation in family stories… How like Jane Austen’s characters, descriptions, settings, costumes and parties! Wow! How much fun it is to read of these types of experiences in Jane Austen’s books.

  28. on March 25, 2013 at 13:21 Felicia

Congratulations! Such an amazing website/blog, no doubt there will be many more of these visiting milestones!

What am I doing to celebrate? I’ve already (re) read Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion this year, like I do every year. So I’ve entered a reading challenge. (The Pride and Prejudice Bicenntenary Reading Challenge)

  29. on March 25, 2013 at 14:22 Donna Hoffman

I began the 200th year celebration of Pride and Prejudice in early January. I met Mr. Darcy himself (Matthew Macfadyen). He graciously took a few pictures with me and autographed and wrote a personal message in my hardbound copy of Pride and Prejudice. This was a dream come true. In February, I joined the Jane Austen Society of North America. In March, I joined the local chapter. It is now almost April, and I have made a Jane Austen corner in my living area. It has all of Jane Austen’s books, a replica of a miniature house of that era, and a couple of old candles of that time period and of course a picture of me and Mr. Darcy. That is where I sit and take myself back to that time period and pretend that I am Elizabeth Bennett waiting for Mr. Darcy to profess his love most ardently. So each month, until the end of the year, will be a celebration with new creative ways to commemorate the 200th anniversary of one of the best books that was ever written.

  30. on March 25, 2013 at 14:43 Carolyn Bonanno

I celebrate by having a Jane Club lunch at our favorite tea room in town. We each wear our favorite period dress. Each of us plays a role Jane Austen, Elizabeth and her sisters. It’s a grand day to enjoy those fantasies of living during Jane’s day!

  31. on March 25, 2013 at 15:02 reganwalker

I guess I could say I’m celebrating but writing more Regencies and encouraging people to read them–not just Jane Austen’s but also the new ones that carry on the tradition of bringing that period in England’s history to life for a whole new generation of readers. I belong to the Beau Monde chapter of Romance Writers of America and we celebrate every day by diving into the research of the period!

  32. on March 25, 2013 at 16:47 Denise

First off, I would like to say congratulations on the 6 million visits and secondly, I’ll be celebrating the 200th Anniversary of P&P by re-reading the book, followed by Northanger Abbey or watch the movie versions. Either way, I love reading Pride and Prejudice since it was my first of Jane Austen books that I began to read in my childhood. :)

  33. on March 25, 2013 at 17:06 Linda Cannon

I have the book in my someday to order, and love the idea of it, I am doing a movie marathon while I knit. Watching all the ones I own, quite a few and getting some on-line. I also have ll of her books so I will be rereading too.

  34. on March 25, 2013 at 17:07 cattaneoHernan21

Congrats! Watching pride and prejudice the movie

  36. on March 26, 2013 at 00:18 Karyn

Celebrating in a simple, but totally appropriate way: Re-reading my favorite passages of “Pride and Prejudice” while sipping tea and nibbling at almond cookies.

  37. on March 26, 2013 at 03:07 trudreamr

In honor of my favorite book’s 200 year anniversary, I am trying to read all of Jane Austen’s books during 2013. It’s quite a feat, but for Austen, I think I will manage :D

  38. on March 26, 2013 at 09:14 Miss Acosta CA

On Jane Austen’s birthday, December 16, because I share the same birthday, I will purchase a beautifully decorated cake from a special bakery in Upland, Ca then light candles at home, blow them out, and serve up cake and ice cream while I watch Pride & Prejudice, both the Colin Firth version and the Matthew MacFayden version. Hopefully I can find some Janeites to join me and share in the festivities.

  39. on March 26, 2013 at 11:39 EverJane

There will be major celebrations later this year, I hope. Watch this space…

  40. on March 26, 2013 at 11:57 ellaquinnauthor

That’a wonderful, but not at all surprising. I tweeted.

  41. on March 26, 2013 at 12:03 Felicia Aaron

Congratulations on your roll over! My way to celebrate is watching period movies of her books! I love movies and I am fortunate to own quite a few, so I have marathon weekends! So much fun!

  42. on March 26, 2013 at 13:00 Jean | Delightful Repast

Congrats on six million visits! And, though I’m not into zombies, I would very much like to win a copy of The Jane Austen Handbook. In honour of the anniversary, I’ve reread P and P and am continuing to enjoy my favourite passages.

  43. on March 26, 2013 at 16:15 Monica Zhao

Love this blog, congrats on you six million! I’m going to break out all my Jane Austen box sets and watch as many mini series and movies I can. Thank you for the giveaway!

  44. on March 26, 2013 at 16:37 Elena

Perhaps I’ll celebrate by designing a knit garment or accessory inspired by the book ;-)

  45. on March 26, 2013 at 16:50 blesso2013W Lesso

I am celebrating the year by attending a special course on P&P.

  46. on March 26, 2013 at 23:30 Nilakshi Roy

Can you believe my luck? Not only am I a fan from my college days, but I have a daughter who knows most of the dialogues (from the books, including and especially , P&P , S&S AND PERSUASION, BY HEART) , now we know all the version dialogues and the biopic ones too…
AND I AM GOING TO TEACH IT TO 3RD yr eng lit students in my college too… CELEBRATIONS ARE ON… maybe a trip to Chawton in JULY. HAPPY ME.. LOVE YOU JANE, MY COMFORT IN ALL MOODS…MY FRIEND.

  47. on March 27, 2013 at 00:08 Robin in KS

I plan to celebrate Jane the same way i do every year: read every word possible by and about her, talk about her to anyone show shows the least bit of interest, and devote a great deal of headspace to her, her life, her books, and her world. Also drag out all of my Georgette Heyer and Stephanie Barron books for re-reading.

  48. on March 27, 2013 at 10:40 Raquel Muniz

I am going to re-read Pride and Prejudice and watch the mini-series.

  49. on March 27, 2013 at 17:05 Angela Sweby

What a wonderful way to celebrate this momentous event. I feel quite sad that not more is being done here in England so I am making up for it by making my celebration extra special.
I’ve loved Jane Austen for many many years but last year felt a need to know more about her so I began to read appreciations, biographies and interspersed that with some wonderful entertaining spin off novels. This year as part of my birthday treat we had an overnight stay in Alton and visited Jane Austen’s cottage in Chawton. I did a blog post here with some photos. It was even better than I imagined. Jane ‘s presence was everywhere and I was sure I could hear the rustling of skirts and Jane and Cassandra whispering and laughing in rooms just along the corridor.
    http://stitchingwithjaneausten.blogspot.co.uk/
A few months ago I decided to reread the novels and began with Persuasion following on with Pride and Prejudice. I’ve now started Emma. I’m enjoying them so much more than when I studied them at school. I am also creating a reading and stitching corner in my sitting room. As I do a lot of cross stitching I am stitching Jane inspired designs and decorating the room with miniatures and other small bits and pieces. I can’t wait to settle into a comfy armchair with a good book or a piece of stitching. I’m really making this a Jane Austen year to remember.
Thank you so much for such a generous giveaway.

  50. on March 28, 2013 at 01:15 Mare Stern

In my imaginary world where I am very wealthy, I would take a trip to England and retrace some of the places Jane Austin lived. However, that dream aside, I will have a P & P marathon and watch all the versions I own. Cheers!

  51. on March 28, 2013 at 02:09 Michele

I’m reading all of Jane’s novels again, not just P&P. I also recently watched the 1995 BBC production with Colin Firth.

  52. on March 28, 2013 at 19:40 Michelle

To celebrate Jane Austen’s 200th Birthday, I obtained two sets of the Jane Austen commemorative stamps from England. One for me and one for my best friend, Else. I was most fortunate because my English friend, Jill, not only obtained the two new sets, she also sent me a set she had purchased in 1975!

Else and I are planning to make Regency dresses and bonnets to wear at the JASA Annual Meeting in Minneapolis. In addition, we continue to read Jane Austen’s novels, watch various movie productions of her works and read about her life and times.

I would like to know more about the shoes and hats the women wore. What designs were most popular and how they decorated them. I remember the scene in P & P where Lydia and Kitty are busy decorating hats.

  53. on March 29, 2013 at 18:23 Myriam

I’m always celebrating Jane Austen, but 200 years of Pride and Prejudice is pretty amazing. I’ve ordered the commemorative stamps for myself and for a friend, and of course I’ll reread the book and rewatch the BBC version!

  54. on March 30, 2013 at 11:02 Vidya

I have re watched BBC’s film so far and plan to reread P&P sometime this year. Jane is always thought away….

  55. on March 30, 2013 at 13:31 Monica Dami

To celebrate I’ve been rereading Jane’s books. ( Not just P and P.). And of course, I had to buy the stamps. Actually two sets, one for myself and another for my daughter. Lastly, I’ve been on the lookout for a design to embroider that would have been popular during Jane’s time such as a needle book.
Congrats on your 6 million visitors!

  56. on March 30, 2013 at 13:57 simplecherishes

Congratulations on this superb readership! I enjoy your posts very much. This year, I have ordered the Pride and Prejudice Royal Stamps, and plan to re-read the book, and watch every version of the movies and dramas I can get hold of.

  57. on March 31, 2013 at 21:36 idahogem1

Congrats on the success of your blog! Jane Austin has long been a favorite of mine. In fact if I ever have a little girl her name will be Elizabeth Anne. After Elizabeth Bennet and Anne of Green Gables. My two favorite heroins!
